The "multisexual"
Erotic Yearbook

320 pages, approx 300 pictures, texts in German,
15,50 Euro, ISBN 978-3-99769-525-5,
The "Stuttgarter Nachrichten" said: "Undomesticated
eroticism, impudent without a need of harmony." Lespress
likes it as "best queer erotic magazine". The news-magazine
"Der Spiegel" called it: "self-willed, irritating,
intelligent"
Like no other publication, "My secret Eye" or "My Lesbian
Eye" or "My Gay Eye" shows the variety and changes in every
sector of art concerning eroticism year by year - eroticism
is not "always the same", but it is reproduced creatively
again and again.
So the dealing
with the issue, with pictures and language is changing -
small facets, which are reflected here - often before they
emerge in the media.
The cast of these
volumes are of different ages, have different backgrounds,
are famous or unknown.
Sex relates to art, to fantasy and to knowledge. It is part
of human interaction, of fantasies and dreams as well as of
everyday life.
The history of women and sexuality dates back to ancient
times. A female queer underground has always existed,
consisting of women who deal with sexuality and eroticism in
their writings, pictures or other forms of art. The
mainstream is dominated by a male culture of sexuality. Here
"pornography" and "art" are seen as two spheres which are
thoroughly separated. It is our aim to fight against the
forces that prohibit the merging of these two realms and to
search for a female gaze without asking ourselves
continually: why is it different? We prefer our readers to
see and judge for themselves. In our opinion art is created
in magic moments that occur in the close encounters of dream
and body.

My Gay Eye
gathers together artistic and sexual adventurers and exotics
of every shade, featuring many new talents side by side with
artists who have long been famous on the international art
scene. In his choice of artists and pictorial exhibits
Rinaldo Hopf has looked beyond Europe to search out new,
unusual forms of expression and kept a special eye open for
artists who are young or little known in Germany, who exist
outside of the mainstream that is more fashionable and
precisely because of that liable more quickly to become
boring. He looked for artists, whose pictures both in
content and form reveal an individual expression of gay
love, desire, sexuality and gay self-awareness. On his quest
Hopf made finds in Tel Aviv, Palm Springs and Shanghai,
above all though in Vienna, Berlin, Amsterdam and New
York

Like no other publication, the famous yearbook "My secret
Eye" shows the variety and changes in every sector of art
concerning eroticism year by year - eroticism is not "always
the same", but it is reproduced creatively again and
again.
So the dealing with the issue, with pictures and language is
changing - small facets, which are reflected here - often
before they emerge in the media.
The cast of these volumes are of different ages, have
different backgrounds, are famous or unknown...
More than 888 authors, photographers and artists have
participated so far.
When we first asked people to participate in 1981, we said:
"Wanted is a private statement, a self-confession of
eroticism, or sex, a contribution to the development of an
erotic culture and the art of love; poetry, theory, fantasy
and reality; in pictures, photos, paintings... and/or
literature. Of course, it is in the authors' discretion
whether they reveal or hint at their personal sexual
obsessions in the pictures or texts or if they deal with it
on more general level: commenting, caricaturing,
counterpointing. The form as such is free." Likewise are the
themes and subjects, for example ecstasy and secret,
every-day-eroticism, sexual life-styles and subtle
enjoyments of fantasy, without boundaries between different
sexualities, lesbian, gay, queer, straight, bi, multi... the
large variety of Eros...These suggestions and expectations
have not changed. In this sense we would like to invite you
again or for the first time.
MY SECRET EYE has been well received and thus accepted by
the press and the audience. The ZEIT wrote of "Lust and
Love". "My Secret Eye" provided the cause to invite Claudia
Gehrke to various seminars, special events and TV-stations.
Various media fashion waves have passed us since; also
different attempts of Censorship - they really threatened
the publishing house of Claudia Gehrke; the publisher,
however, has attended to the issue of eroticism from the
start on (since 1978) and is definitely going to devote
herself to this subject in the future (and also to
philosophy and poetry and photography in separate
publications)...
